Sports Star Highlight:Deshaun Watson

In my opinion, I believe that Deshaun Watson deserved the Heisman Trophy. This man not only represents one of the best players in College, but he also resembles the image of faith, humility, and a passion for the game of football.

Deshaun Watson is a multi-talented quarterback at Clemson. When he can’t pass the ball, he can run the ball and vice-versa. His stats show it all. In 2015, he threw for 4104 yards and had a 67.8% ¬†completion percentage. He tossed 35 touchdowns and only thew 13 interceptions. However, not only did he throw, he ran too, racking up a total of 1105 yards rushing and 12 touchdowns on the ground. In total, he was responsible for 282 of Clemson’s points. He showed off pretty well during the Oklahoma game in the quarterfinals of the College Football Playoff, leading his team to a 37-17 victory. Though Clemson lost the CFP Championship to Alabama, Deshaun put on quite a show, tossing up 4 touchdowns and 405 yards in a 45-40 loss.

To say that Deshaun Watson is a good quarterback is an understatement. He is one of the best out there and should go pretty high in the draft. I predict he will go to the Rams or Cowboys in the first round. Watson is not only an NFL level QB because of his statistics, but also because of his maturity on and off the Clemson field. He put up a 4.0 GPA in his academic studies, proving that academics are just as important to him as athletics. A QB with a high GPA is looked upon very highly by college scouts and for good reason. To name a few quarterbacks with high GPAs in college: Peyton Manning, Ryan Fitzpatrick, and Drew Brees, all outstanding leaders on the field.

Thanks for reading. Please let me know what you think. Next Wednesday, I will be ranking the top 5 college prospects in my opinion. Have a good week!
