After the top 25 polls came out this week, I was shocked by two ranking of two teams. The fact that Duke was able to stay in the Top 25 (they kept the #24 spot) surprised me the most. After 3 straight losses to unranked opponents (Clemson, Syracuse, and Notre Dame) I believed they may have been out of the Top 25 for the rest of the season. Yet with a 15-5 record, Duke was able to stay in the AP Top 25. Also, Oklahoma retained the #1 spot after LOSING to Iowa State 82-77. Yet the #2 University of North Carolina did not lose once this past week and have an 18-2 record, but were not able to get the #1 spot. This has got me scratching my head and wondering how both these teams were able to retain their spots. After the new polls came out, Duke went on to lose to Miami (FL), which should be enough to knock them out of the polls with a 15-6 record.
What can we do to change the AP polling system? I think we can get rid of committee voting and do it by record. A 15-6 team should not be ahead of a 19-1 team just because of the quality of the win.
Please, let me know what you think.

P.S The SMU Mustangs undefeated season came to a close with a loss to Temple. It is a shame, seeing that if they were to finish the season 32-0, their self-imposed playoff ban would have made them the first NCAA basketball team to end a season undefeated.
