March Sadness

March Madness could be one of the most fun times of the year if it was fair. Teams are left out unfairly. Certain teams that aren’t in the so-called “power conferences” (ACC, AAC, Big East, Pac-12, and the like) and yet have a really good record are left out because of strength of schedule.

It is very unfair for the NCAA selection committee to leave out these teams. I know of Patriot League, Big South, and MWC teams that could go very far in the tournament and yet are left out because they have a really good record, and yet don’t win the conference tournament.

While I feel like the NCAA has the most fair selection out of all the major sports leagues, there are some things that need to change. Instead of strength of schedule, look at the record. If it requires more than 68 teams, then so be it. Extend the amount of teams and extend the days that the tournament is played on.

I am definitely looking forward to March Madness, but it could be a little more fun and a little more madness if we added more teams that could compete.
